Compression testing was performed using an Instron 5582 universal testing system on cylindrical samples of Mg – 0.1Ca, measuring 16 mm in diameter and 24 mm in height fabricated according to ASTM E9–09. Compression tests were performed using an Instron Environmental Test Chamber 3119 – 605 at 200C at strain rates of 10-3, 10-2, and 10-1 s-1 . Samples were maintained at the desired temperature for 10 minutes before testing. A non-contact laser extensometer was used to measure strain.
